Shimla: The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), in collaboration with the Ministry of MSME Government of India, successfully organized a two-day National IP Yatra Program at Hotel Holiday Home, Shimla during 25th-26th March 2025.
On the second day of the workshop the subjects of commercialization, licensing and franchising, leverageing IP for funding and investment, joint venture and strategic alliances and enforcement of IPRs were discussed. IPR Helpdesk was also organized for the participants.
Mr D P Goel, Co-Chair, MSME Committee, PHDCCI in his welcome address apprised the participants comprising of MSMEs, Start ups and young entrepreneurs planning to launch their innovations.
He also highlighted the importance of registering intellectual property rights (IPRs) to gain significant benefits of their commercialization. Vasant Chandra, Head-Prosecution, United and United in his technical address stressed upon the significance of selecting an appropriate name for their product. He highlighted the necessity of licensing, which secures ownership rights over the product. Through licensing, businesses can generate revenue by granting production rights to other companies while maintaining control over quality and brand identity.
The session was also graced by Dr Shamsher S Kanwar, Chairman, Department of Biotechnology, Himachal Pradesh University, Mr Abbas Mehdi, Addl. Director, STPI and Mr Sunil Awasthi, Joint Director, STPI. Mr. Anil Saunkhala, Resident Director, PHDCCI moderated the session.
Followed by the technical session, IP Helpdesk was organised for participants to engage in discussions with IP experts and resolve their IP related queries. IP Helpdesk in the workshop was available as a dedicated support center for attendees to receive guidance on IPR issues, facilitate registration process of IPRs and seeking reimbursement from the Ministry as per MSME Innovative Scheme.
This two-day National IP Yatra Program provided valuable insights to aspiring entrepreneurs, offering them the knowledge and tools needed to navigate the complex landscape of intellectual property, market trends, and business sustainability.
