Ambala Cantt - The NSS Units of S D College, Ambala Cantt in association with PGI Blood Bank, Chandigarh, Rotary and Innerwheel Club Ambala organized a blood donation camp in the college premises. This year it has been organized in the remembrance of late Prof. Leeladhar Viyogi (Former head, Department of Hindi). It was he who during war started blood donation camp in the college and was awarded by His Excellency Governor of Haryana for blood donation and motivation. Then on, this tradition of humanity has become a continuous practice of the college. Smt. Chandrakanta Viyogi graced the occasion by marking her presence. She said that the family will remember this honour throughout their life. Dr. Desh Bandhu principal of the college, said share blood, share life and automatically good values will be shared. Dr. Suchet Sachdeva (PGI, Chandigarh) said that it’s good to see the adolescents to come forward for the cause of humanity.
Out of more than 400 registrations as many as 205 units of blood were collected with the help of a team of doctors including NSS Programme officers Dr. Sushil Goswami, Prof. Neetu Bakshi and Prof Babita Ramola. Dr. N.K. Sharma (former head, department of Hindi), Dr. A.K. Sharma, Dr. Asha Sharma always spur enthusiasm among donors by their motivational words. District Red Cross Society, Ambala always joins the camp and motivates the blood donors by honouring them with the Red Cross Donor badges and Mr. Harmesh Chand . The blood donors who were honored on the occasion include Rajinder Garg (163), Dr. Surat Singh (88), Dr. Sushil Kansal (62), Mr. Balesh Kumar, Dr. Divya Jain, Mr. Deepak (10), Mr. Harvinder, Ms. Renu, Mr. Varun Dheengra, Mr. Devdutt always donate in the college blood donation camp to motivate the donors. Members of College Blood Donation Committee Dr. Neena Malhotra, Dr. Rajinder Singh,, Dr. Vijay Sharma, Prof. Harroop, Dr. Divya Jain, Dr. S P Sharma, Dr. Ashutosh, Dr. Sunil, Dr. Saryu made the camp by their motivation and contribution a grand success. NCC cadets and NSS volunteers left no stone unturned to bring laurels to this campaign.
