Chandigarh - Desh Bhagat University's Directorate of Sports commenced its eagerly awaited two-day annual sports meet with grandeur and enthusiasm. The event, graced by esteemed dignitaries, witnessed the esteemed presence of Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor of DBU, alongside Dr. Tajinder Kaur, Pro-Chancellor. Renowned wrestler Rubaljeet Singh was accorded the title of Guest of Honor, while Kulvinder Kaur added to the occasion as a special guest. Dr. Virinder Singh, Advisor to the Chancellor, and Dr. Harsh Sadawarti, Vice President, also honored the event with their presence, enhancing its prestige.
The festivities commence with a majestic flag hoisting ceremony, followed by an impressive march past led by Mohit Joshi, who commanded with precision and discipline. The Agriculture & Allied Health Sciences team showcased exemplary coordination and teamwork, emerging as the victors of the march past.
Dr. Zora Singh, in his address, underscored the significance of sports in not only fostering physical prowess but also in nurturing mental strength and character. He emphasized the invaluable lessons that sports impart, wherein victories and defeats are integral components of the journey.
Symbolizing unity and sportsmanship, the torch relay ceremony was conducted by Dr. Zora Singh himself, adding a touch of grandeur and unity to the event. Under the efficient management of Dr. Ajay Pal Singh and coordination by Dr. Pravin Kumar, Director of Sports, the stage witnessed exhilarating competitions including the men's and women's 100 meters heats, long jump, 400 meters final, discus throw final, javelin throw, and the highly anticipated 200 meters final.
