31 schools of the state named after freedom fighters and martyrs: Harjot Singh Bains
Chandigarh, November 3: In order to honour the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and martyred soldiers of the state and to make the future generations aware about these personalities, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab government has decided to name 31 government schools of the state after the freedom fighters and martyred soldiers.
Divulging further, Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that the state government had decided to rename the state government schools, hence 31 more government schools have been renamed in third phase during the current year.
Bains said that the complying with the orders of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the government schools are being renamed after the freedom fighters and martyred soldiers so that our future generations can also be aware of the sacrifices of these personalities.
The Education Minister said that among the government schools which have been renamed, the Government High School of Khatkar Kalan, district Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar has been renamed as Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Government High School.
Rename the caste-based government schools
Mr. Bains said that apart from this, the decision has also been taken to rename the caste-based government schools. The process of renaming such schools after famous personalities of villages /cities /towns, is under way.

Similarly Government Senior Secondary School Karamgarh District Barnala rename as Shaheed Amardeep Singh Government Senior Secondary School Karamgarh District Barnala, Government High School Kaire District Barnala as Shaheed Hawaldar Sukhwinder Singh Government High School Kaire District Barnala, Government Senior Secondary School Jaiton (Girls), District Faridkot as Freedom Fighter Master Karta Ram Government Senior Secondary School Jaiton (Girls), District Faridkot, Government Primary School Gohgaron, District Hoshiarpur as Shaheed Paramjit Singh Government Elementary School Gohgaron, District Hoshiarpur, Government High School Gehle, District Mansa as Shaheed Sepoy Nachhatar Singh Government High School Gehle, District Mansa and Government High School Loha Khera, District Sangrur has been renamed as Shaheed Lance Naik Karnail Singh Government High School Loha Khera, District Sangrur.

The Education Minister urged the people that if they are desirous to rename the school of their area after a renowned person, they can coordinate with the Education Department.
