The concluding day of the ongoing Hemant utsav witnessed a soulful performance of Vocal Recital by the eminent vocalist Sonal Shivkumar at ML Koser Auditorium here today at 6:00 pm onwards.
Sonal Shiv Kumar is pursuing Hindustani music under the guidance of the renowned Smt. Manik Bhide from the Jaipur Atrauli Gharana Training Performances Learned Hindustani Classical (Vocal) from Pt. Prabhakar Karekar for 12 years. Though trained in khayal gayaki, equally at ease with other forms of semi-classical music including bhajans, thumris, jhulas, dadra and Marathi folk songs . To perform across the nation and to spread her expertise in the international arena. She performed on many national and international platforms and kept alive a tradition which is centuries old.
Smt. Sonal Shivkumar chose Raga “Madhuwanti” with traditional aalap followed by Madhya laya Jhaptaal bandish “Shiva ad madh anta“ . After this she presented " drut aada chautaal bandish “ tu hi rab garibanawaz “ . Her next rendering was Rag Bageshri based sunand taal composition “man mohan shyam” to form the raga form. Then she moved on to another drut ek taal bandish composed by Legendary vocalist Dr. Ashwini Bhide Deshpande “sunat taan bhiye main bawariya” with perfect maturity and expansion. The audience was thrilled to relish the recital with concluding Dadra .
The fine accompaniment on Tabla by Mumbai based young tabla player Tejovrush Joshi and Kurukshetra based eminent harmonium exponent Dr. Tarun Joshi added to the success of the concert. Secretary Shri Sajal Koser along with Guru Sushil Jain honored the artists.
