Two-Day Programme on Intellectual Property Rights (National IP Yatra) culminated

SHIMLA: The Two-Day Programme on Intellectual Property Rights (National IP Yatra) culminated today with insights on Intellectual Property Rights relevance across industries. The programme was organized by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with the support of the Office of the Development Commissioner (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises), Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India.


The National IP Yatra Programme witnessed the active participation of MSMEs, start-ups, innovators, potential entrepreneurs and the programme showcased the growing interest and importance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) across various sectors. The technical session was chaired by Dr H P Kumar, Former CMD, NSIC and Advisor, PHDCCI and he set the stage for interaction on various deliberations on IPR issues.

The event covered a range of topics, including Enforcement of IP Rights, where Mr Vasant Chandra, Head-Prosecution, United and United, highlighted the significance of IP protection for businesses, entrepreneurs and innovators. He elaborated on various strategies to safeguard intellectual property, such as registering copyrights, trademarks, and patents, creating confidentiality contracts, and implementing security measures.

Mr Akash Chaudhary, Associate, United and United discussed the legal aspects of IPR infringement and also shed light on the broader scope of Intellectual Property, encompassing patents, utility models, trademarks, and copyrights.

The session was also addressed by Shri Narender Bhardwaj, Chair, Himachal Pradesh State Chapter, PHDCCI, Shri Vishal Chauhan, Co-chair, Himachal Pradesh State Chapter, PHDCCI, Ms Kanchan Zutshi, Director, PHDCCI and Ms Anil Saunkhala, Resident Director, PHDCCI.

The technical session was followed by a Helpdesk Camp on IPR to provide one-to-one assistance to the MSMEs and also provide on-spot filing of IPRs. Many queries related to IPRs were addressed through the Helpdesk Camp. The National IP Yatra Programme served as a platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and strategic discussions, reinforcing the critical role of Intellectual Property in fostering innovation and economic growth.
