Chandigarh’s 3700 people got roof top system installed on their homes

Chandigarh -  People are taking interest in buying electric vehicles in City Beautiful Chandigarh. Since the implementation of the EV policy in September 2022, the Chandigarh administration has provided a subsidy of Rs 18.66 crore to the people on purchasing EV. The above views were expressed by T.C Nautiyal IFS , Secretary, Department of Science and Technology.

Nautiyal while addressing during the Regional Conference EV Infrastructure & Green Hydrogen Mobility on the second day of the EV Expo being organized by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in association with CREST. He said that till now this subsidy has been given on the purchase of 3001 EVs in the city. He said that the trend of E-rickshaw is also increasing rapidly in the city. At present more than 2800 E-rickshaws are running in the city.
 


 
He apprised that 886 government residences, government buildings, colleges and hospitals and more than 3700 pvt Houses of have installed solar system. Nautiyal said that the schemes are being implemented by the administration in such a way that green and clean cities are converted into solar cities by the year 2030. Welcoming the guests, Bharti Sood, Regional Director of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that the main objective of this event is to make the city residents aware about EV and green energy. She said that apart from the city residents, students from various colleges participated in today's program.


 
On this occasion, Dr. JD Sharma Head of Metallurgical & Materials Engineering Department, Punjab Engineering College Chandigarh said that EV and solar devices are becoming a major part of future life. This will play an important role in reducing pollution. On this occasion, Parv Arora Convener PHDCCI Renewal Energy Committee, Narayan kumar Sreekumar, Ishwinder Mann and many other dignitaries were present.
