SGGSC 26 ORGANISES VOTER AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

Chandigarh - Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Sector 26, Chandigarh in collaboration with Election Department, organised "MERA PEHLA VOTE DESH KE LIYE," a Voter Awareness Campaign targeting youth. The Campaign aimed to educate the youth about the importance of voting and its significance for the nation.

The Campaign featured esteemed Resource Persons, including Sh JS Jayara, State Icon for Persons with Disabilities (PwD), UT Chandigarh; Sh Shankar Singh, Nodal Officer, Hello Voters Web Radio, Election Department; and team of election department. These eminent speakers shared valuable insights on voter enrolment and registration process for first time voters.

Highlighting the polling process, they were informed about the provision of ramp, availability of wheelchairs, priority entry to polling stations, braille enabled electronic voting machines and pick & drop facilities to PwD voters. They provided to the students a Voters Guide to make elections more accessible to Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and Senior citizens.

They also told the students about three important Apps of Election Commission of India, namely Saksham- ECI App and Voter Helpline App and cVigil App. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students. Principal, Dr Navjot Kaur thanked the Resource Persons for their valuable insights and lauded the efforts of Election Department, Electoral Literacy Club, Equal Opportunity Cell and NSS Units of the College for organizing the event. She encouraged students to exercise their right to vote responsibly.
