Subhash gets USHA-NIFT ‘Best Garment Construction Award’ in Kangra

Kangra - Usha International, the leader in sewing machine industry, gave away this year’s Usha-NIFT ‘Best Garment Construction Award’ to Subhash Chander Burman, a student of National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Kangra.

 

At a convocation event held last evening at Kangra, Usha International felicitated the winner with a Usha Janome sewing machine, a trophy, certificate and a cash award of Rs 10,000/-. The award was given by Mr Suresh Vyas, Assistant Regional Manager, Sewing Machines (Punjab). The event witnessed dignitaries from the fashion fraternity and NIFT students cheering together for collections showcased by the students.

 

Playing a pivotal role in encouraging young and budding fashion designers, Usha International has been conferring the most prestigious ‘Best Garment Construction Award’ to the NIFT students since 2000. Every year one student is recognized from each of the 11 NIFT centers including Kangra, New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Gandhi Nagar, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Rai Bareli, Shillong and Patna. The awardees are shortlisted by the NIFT professors based on their performance throughout the year.

 

Mr Suresh Vyas, Assistant Regional Manager, Sewing Machines (Punjab), said, "We are extremely proud of our association with NIFT Kangra as it has enabled us to contribute meaningfully in nurturing the best talents of fashion industry. It also gives us a great pleasure to witness these students experience the joy of sewing with powerful, precise and intuitive Usha sewing machines. With each year we hope to make our association stronger by empowering students and providing cutting-edge technology and designs to give wings to creativity and expression.”
