Chandigarh Administration announces the minimum rates of wages for employees

Chandigarh - In accordance with the Government Letter No. 7004/F.41/60571 (Fin. Gen.), dated 21st November 1941, and in partial modification of earlier orders issued vide Endst. no. DC/DN/F-20/2023/13357-63, dated: 28.05.2023, the Chandigarh District Administration announces the following minimum rates of wages for employees, effective from 01.04.2023 to 31.03.2024 (both days inclusive):

The minimum rates of wages are fixed based on the DC rates, with additional implementation as per the Judgment dated 13.11.2000 by the Hon'ble Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh, in C.W.P. no. 17650-C, and subsequent directions issued by the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi. Persons employed on a monthly basis will receive fixed monthly wages regardless of holidays. These rates apply to all Government Offices, Boards, Corporations, Public Sector Undertakings, and autonomous bodies of the UT Chandigarh Administration.

However, individual offices may decide on adoption for their employees. Offices of the Central Government, Government of Punjab, Government of Haryana, or any other government located in Chandigarh may make their own decisions regarding adoption of these wage rates. The rates are minimum prescribed DC Rates based on the pay rates of regular posts

Departments/Institutions have the discretion to decide additional wages, perks, or facilities based on duty hours and nature of duty. Minimum wage rates are applicable for 8 hours of work. Daily rate/hour of part-time workers should be calculated accordingly.

The notification is available for download on the official website of Chandigarh Administration (chd.gov.in) and the District Administration web portal (https://chandigarhdistrict.nic.in/). Posts not found in the Central Pay Notification adopted by Chandigarh Administration No. 7000/15/8-F&PO (7)/2023/4354, dated: 29 March 2023, are frozen. Any findings or representations received will be reviewed accordingly.
