Panchkula Crime Branch investigates case

Nine individuals, including co-founders Amin Goyal and Siddharth Uniyal, are under investigation

State Crime Branch probes allegations of fund diversion, criminal breach of trust, and conspiracy

Panchkula. The internal dispute at the popular online fitness and rehabilitation platform Granimals Absolute Fitness Private Limited has now escalated to a criminal investigation. The Haryana State Crime Branch, Panchkula, has investigated prima facie charges of alleged fund diversion, criminal breach of trust, intimidation, and conspiracy related to this venture, which was reported to be worth approximately 100 crore rupees on Shark Tank India. The case has been investigated against co-founders Amin Goyal and Siddharth Uniyal, among others.

Advocate Vinayak Bansal stated in a statement released here today that complainant and co-founder Rochan Kakkar, in his complaint dated June 14, 2025, stated that Granimals was founded in 2021 by Rochan Kakkar, Siddharth Uniyal, and Amin Goyal, and that the three held a 33.33 percent stake in the company. The company's turnover for the 2024-25 fiscal year was reported to be approximately ₹9.47 crore. Rochan Kakkar alleges that following a dispute between the founders in 2025, he was pressured to sell his shares. Upon refusing, his access to the company's email, internal systems, and communications was allegedly blocked.

The complaint alleges that a conspiracy was hatched to transfer Granimals' customer, employee, and confidential business data by creating a new company called Healpen Recovery Care Private Limited. It also alleges that funds were diverted through fake invoices and third-party accounts. The case was initially referred to Cyber Crime, but due to the pending dispute in the NCLT and the matter being considered civil in nature, it was closed without a detailed investigation. Subsequently, an application filed under Section 156(3) CrPC was dismissed, and a revision petition is pending in the Sessions Court. A separate application was subsequently filed with the authorities, following which the case was transferred to the Haryana State Crime Branch for investigation. During the investigation, statements were recorded from the complainant, Rochan Kakkar, and Nidhi Sharma, Granimals' former HR manager and finance head. WhatsApp records, company emails, chats, and other electronic documents, including PPT worksheets, were also presented.

Prima Facie Crime in Legal Opinion

Based on the investigation material, the Deputy District Attorney's legal opinion found prima facie allegations of criminal breach of trust, criminal intimidation, and criminal conspiracy under Sections 316(2), 351(2), and 61(2) of the Indian Penal Code. The investigation also stated that the mere pendency of civil proceedings in the NCLT does not preclude criminal proceedings if the facts independently establish criminal offences. Co-founders Siddharth Uniyal, Amin Goyal, CA Jaipal Sharma, Krishna Verma, Sanjeev Kumar Garg, Tanvesh Inani, Karan Sharma, Vikas Panwar, and Harshit Dwivedi are implicated in the allegations. After a thorough investigation, the State Crime Branch has submitted its investigation report to the court. The allegations leveled in the case are subject to judicial process. The final decision on the conviction of any accused is pending with the competent court.
