None takes up EVM dare

New Delhi : Even as 13 political parties had approached the Election Commission and raised their doubts about the Electronic Voting Machines' (EVMs) reliability in conducting fair elections, none of them could take up the challenge thrown up today by the poll panel to prove that the machines could be tampered with.  Only two parties — CPM and NCP — which had accepted the challenge, appeared for the event today, but backed out at the last minute.

Army transfer racket busted with arrest of two by CBI

New Delhi : With the arrest of Lt Col Ranganathan Suvramani Moni, posted at the Army Headquarters here, and  middleman Gaurav Kohli for an alleged bribery of Rs 2 lakh, the CBI has busted a transfer racket. It seems lakhs of rupees were paid by Army officers to manipulate postings.

New Delhi - Abdul Bashit aged 11 years, a resident of Pakistan and the eldest of 3 siblings, developed severe jaundice soon after birth. He was diagnosed to have Criggler Najjar Syndrome. This condition which is seen in 1 in a million babies causes a toxic form of bilirubin pigment to rise in the blood.  To prevent complications like brain damage and hearing loss from this condition, Abdul underwent continuous phototherapy in the hospital during the first 2 months of his life. Thereafter, he was discharged to go home and continue the phototherapy treatment.

 

WACS and Nestle Healthy Kids unite to encourage healthy eating habits

Gurgaon - On the occasion of World Chefs Day, Nestle India organized a cooking workshop on healthy eating habits for adolescents. Through this initiative, students who are a part of the Nestle Healthy Kids Programme in partnership with Magic Bus India Foundation interacted with World Association of Chef’s Societies (Worldchefs) Chef Akshay Malhotra and his team. The students, who turned into ‘Chefs for a day’, were taught about healthy cooking and given the option of choosing ingredients to prepare healthy meals.
